Electric energy storage devices are now widely used in various industries and fields of application. First and foremost, in Power Engineering and Transport & Communications. Various types of such devices are used in grid and distributed smart energy, power units and charging stations, portable chargers and energy storages, renewable “green” energy, subway and railroad cars, electric vehicles and buses, warehouse and loading equipment, buffer storages and uninterruptible power supplies.
Nearly every day consumers indent higher and higher requirements to the power and energy features of energy storage devices. In response, energy storage manufacturers are forced to look for knowledge-intensive solutions to meet the increased demands of the market.
One of our long-range research priorities in the mid-term of 3-5 years is to design an energy storage unit having a specific energy of 300+ W*h/kg. R&D on new anodes and cathodes and high-voltage electrolytes are currently being completed. They will raise the performance of energy storage devices to a fundamentally new level. Given our accrued background and in-house experimental base, the implementation of promising developments will move forward with accelerated dynamics and will surely give a result practically from scratch.
Pioneers will invest in the project, the rest will have to catch up.
At the stage of implementation, our project will contribute to the creation of a new industry in the national economy of the Russian Federation.
This will give significant social and economic benefits:
· new jobs will be created
· domestic operations and supply base will build up
With substantial government support, the industries related will develop:
· metallurgy
· chemical industry
· machine tool and instrument engineering
· high-tech industries
· highly qualified personnel training
This will result in:
market-ready domestic innovative product superior to global counterparts contributing to the Russia image as an advanced industrial power.
